The School on Recent Advances in Analysis of Multivariate Ecological Data: Theory and Practice will be held in Trieste, Italy, from 24th to 28th October 2016, organized by ICTP toghether with OGS, and ISEM.

 

WHY to APPLY

  • Excellent LECTURERS, including Pierre LEGENDRE (author of one of the most successful books on numerical ecology) and Daniel BORCARD (author of a book on numerical ecology methods in R).
  • EFFECTIVE format: The school aims to provide both the theoretical and practical (hands on computer sessions) knowledge needed to perform advanced analysis of physical, environmental and ecological data. It will be organized in daily morning sessions with lectures and daily afternoon sessions devoted to practical training. Sudents are encouraged to bring their own data set and working on specific problem of their choice. Furthermore, specific lectures will be given by specialists on selected methods and applications.
  • FREE open access SOFTWARE the use of an open access free to use software (R-package ) which students will be able to use also when back home. This represents an extra plus of the course.
  • BEAUTIFUL venue: ICTP is a stimulating and international environment, Trieste is a beautiful and interesting city and end of October is the best time to enjoy the wonderful fall colours of our Carso.

ORGANIZERS: The school is organized and hosted by the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy, together with the OGS (National Institute for Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics), Italy, and ISEM (The International Society of Ecological Modelling). The School is co-sponsored by the International Union of Geodesy & Geophysics (IUGG).
